Halfway there! Sweet Pea now measures from head to toe since the arms and legs are now spread out, coming in at around 10 inches and 10.5 ounces.
Taste buds are hard at work too, so I’m sure Sweet Pea is well on her way to a sweet tooth, as I just ate and drank my way through strawberry shortcake, tiramisu, a root beer float, ice cream (twice) and a chocolate shake while on vacation in Florida this past week. (source, source)
Yes, really. I’m sure my Bradley teacher will be impressed with my weekly nutrition sheet that I hand over to her tomorrow. I’ve marked the protein count for each of the above-mentioned goodies as priceless. I’d say that’s accurate.
Sweet Pea is also getting so much stronger. I can now see my stomach move from the outside when the baby gives a kick or jab, and the grandparents all had a chance to feel Sweet Pea kick too. They confirmed that my belly went through a huge growth spurt while in Florida, although this may or may not have been due to my crazy sugar binge.
I’ve also purchased a new pregnancy body pillow – the Preggle. I’m liking this one so much more than the Snoogle. Because it’s smaller, I can use my own head pillow and I don’t feel like it’s taking over the bed each night. It’s also easier to turn from side to side since I’m not lugging quite as massive of a pillow with me each time I turn.
Total Weight Gain: I weighed in with 2 more pounds after I got back from vacation, bringing the total to just under 10.
Symptoms: Sleep is still not the best. Basically, the longer it takes for me to fall asleep, the more anxious I become about not sleeping. At least it’s preparing me for the many sleepless nights to come! I also wore a pre-pregnancy strapless bra one day while in Florida and felt heartburn for the first time while wearing it – the bra was so tight and uncomfortable. Ow. Not wearing that thing again for awhile.
Movement: All the time. I haven’t yet figured out the sleep and awake patterns though.
Food Cravings: Sugar. Sugar. Chocolate. Sugar. Chocolate. ROOT BEER FLOAT. (This is about how my mind operated while on vacation.)
Best Moment This Week: Celebrating my halfway point with my parents and in-laws. We all live in different states and it was so nice to see them midpoint in my pregnancy.
What I’m Looking Forward To: The anatomy scan is tomorrow! I’ve heard from a few friends who go to my practice that it involves a 4D ultrasound and we’ll get a DVD to take home too. Hopefully I sleep okay tonight because I can’t wait for tomorrow morning!
