After a few weeks of snow, ice storms and brutal cold (as defined by southern standards), Mother Nature presented Charlotte with a lovely January send-off. The 60s/70s temperature served as a beautiful reminder that spring is on its way to the southeast.
I grabbed two great deals from Living Social and Groupon last week and took advantage of both over the weekend. Groupon offered a $10 gift certificate to Luna’s Living Kitchen (a vegan and raw foods restaurant in Charlotte) for half price. I also scored an amazing deal at Living Social – 20 yoga classes for $20 at Om Yoga, a new studio in Fort Mill.
Kevin and I headed to Luna’s for lunch on Saturday with our dog, Maggie, in tow. We sat outside, grabbed some hot tea, and listened to the live music at the Atherton Farmer’s Market next door.
Maggie nearly died watching all the dogs walking in and out of the market while she was stuck sitting with us.
I’ve tried a few raw foods before at Healthy Home Market’s prepared section and I was excited to see what else is out there. It was slightly disappointing to see Luna’s had a fairly limited lunch selection. There were eight options; three of them were salads and one was soup. I was hoping to see more ways that raw foods can be used to create a meal.
I tried the Lunasagna and Kevin had the Sprouted Quinoa-Kamut Veggie Burger. His burger was ah-MAZ-ing. He’s already went back again to get it while at work today.
I enjoyed the Lunasagna, but there was a bit too much for me. I had the same feeling that I get after eating too much sushi. Always good at first, but there’s a sneaky tipping point where stuff starts tasting funky and I can’t eat the rest. In all fairness, the side salad was awesome and I was loving on the zucchini noodles. We have another coupon, so I think I’ll try the Freestyle Wrap next time.
We headed to the dog park after Luna’s and Maggie was in doggie heaven.
A trip to the Fresh Market afterwards to grab supplies for the Warm Lentil Salad & Scallops we were making that night.
And some flowers, just because.

Since winter is wonderful that means you’re coming to Denver, right?
I hope you two cook for me when you visit
It all looks fantastic!!
thanks, shuff! of course we will cook for you whenever. now just need to start saving up for the plane tickets!!
I remember that yoga Groupon from a week or so ago and SO meant to buy it. Totally forgot. That is SUCH a good deal. Loving your pup! Also, we used to live right beside Atherton Mill and would eat at Luna’s ALL the time. LOVE that place!
I’m pretty excited about it! I tried my first hot yoga class there last weekend and it was great. The best part is that there’s finally a yoga studio around that’s just a 5 minute drive for me!
